In 2007, the second version of AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, was introduced, primarily designed to run on inexpensive, low-powered desktop computers. Autodesk introduced AutoCAD LT to provide a Windows-based solution, which did not require a separate graphics terminal as did AutoCAD. As with AutoCAD, a new version of AutoCAD LT, AutoCAD LT 2008 R1, was released in September 2008. AutoCAD LT 2008 R1 was only available to current owners of AutoCAD LT 2007, and was made available to the public in October 2008.

AutoCAD LT 2008 R1 is available in a free version and a fully functional version. The free version includes basic features, whereas the full version is identical to AutoCAD LT 2007 except that it does not support multitasking. Subsequent to the introduction of AutoCAD LT 2008 R1, Autodesk discontinued the previous version of AutoCAD.

History

AutoCAD, originally called “AutoCAD Project”, was developed at a small software company named Digital Projection Inc., which was spun off from General Motors. General Motors acquired Digital Projection in 1983 to support its CAD needs. Autodesk later acquired Digital Projection and continued to develop AutoCAD. The first version of AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT, was released in October 2007 and is available in a free version and a fully functional version. The free version includes basic features, whereas the fully functional version is identical to AutoCAD LT 2007 except that it does not support multitasking.

On September 27, 2006, Autodesk acquired The Mayfield Group and its AutoCAD division. Since the sale of The Mayfield Group, Autodesk has been purchasing new technology and talent in a bid to improve and expand its capabilities. The acquisition was reported to have been made in order to reduce Autodesk’s dependence on existing market leaders and to take advantage of new markets. After the acquisition, Autodesk announced its intention to discontinue Autodesk Architect.

AutoCAD Architecture Features

As with AutoCAD, AutoCAD LT is available in two versions. The free version, which includes “free design” functionality, is available for both AutoCAD LT 2007 and AutoCAD LT 2008 R1. It is supported on Windows XP and later.

Autocad 1.0 (Autocad DX) was first released on March 17, 1984. In 1994, Autocad DX was released on the Macintosh, with the intention of extending the product’s market beyond the PC. However, it was soon superseded by the Windows version and the Mac version was discontinued.

Since Autocad 2005 the use of Autocad DesignCenter has been discontinued.

The new Autocad 2012 is the last to be built on the old Autocad 2001.

1. Open Autodesk Autocad and press on File > New… > 3D Model. The New Model Wizard will be displayed.

Ctrl + Backspace to Delete

If you want to delete a drawing, just select the drawing with the Arrow key and press the Delete key (both pressed together). For example, for a rectangular selection press the Right Arrow key and the Delete key. (video: 1:30 min)

Ctrl + D to Delete 2 Objects

To quickly delete multiple objects, just press the Delete key and the number of objects to delete. For example, for four objects, press the Delete key four times. (video: 1:12 min)

Ctrl + Shift + Delete to Delete Objects

Alt + Del to Stop a Drawing

To cancel a running drawing, just press the Alt key and the Del key (both pressed together). For example, for a drawing being filled press the Alt key and the Del key. (video: 1:25 min)

Shift + Click to Pick Direction

To quickly rotate, scale, or move your view, you can also simply click on a direction to toggle between changing the view or picking that direction. This allows you to view the next rotation in any order you want, but also gives you the ability to quickly pick the direction you want by simply clicking the mouse button. (video: 1:15 min)

Ctrl + Left/Right Arrow to Pan
