AutoCAD was originally designed by engineering students from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) at their computer graphics laboratory. In addition, the development of AutoCAD was supported by a grant from the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), an agency of the United States Department of Defense. AutoCAD is free software. It is open-source software with no royalties and open-source or “GPL” licensing, which means that the source code for AutoCAD is free to use for any purpose, including commercial uses.

AutoCAD is a registered trademark of Autodesk, Inc., a California corporation, with headquarters in California.

First release

Autodesk released AutoCAD version 1 in December 1982. One hundred thousand copies of this first release were sold in the first two months.[2]

Pentium

Autodesk was able to release AutoCAD version 2 in January 1983, thanks to the release of the Intel 80286 microprocessor (Pentium) the same month. A subsequent release of the 80286 microprocessor brought changes that allowed AutoCAD to create more robust and user-friendly CAD drawings.

In 1985, with the release of the new 80386 microprocessor, the microcomputer industry began to take off. In this environment, Autodesk decided to add PowerBuilder to the VLSI package that would be able to interface with the new 80386 microprocessor. This allows the user to run AutoCAD on a desktop computer that is connected to a large-screen graphics workstation. For most, this meant the ability to use all the features of AutoCAD, as well as create more robust drawings.

Starting with AutoCAD 2004, the application was upgraded from.NET to.NET Framework. This change enabled the use of Windows Presentation Foundation for UIs in the Windows operating system, which was also introduced with AutoCAD R13.

On 15 December 2010, Autodesk announced a $6 million investment in Red Hat with the aim of moving Autodesk’s AutoCAD line into the open source world.

With AutoCAD R13 release in 2012, the Windows operating system started becoming a client. The new operating system, Microsoft Windows, allows the use of AutoCAD’s cloud services. This allows on-line installation of AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT, and automatic updates. In addition, Autodesk has enabled users to use a web browser to work directly with AutoCAD drawings.

In January 2014, Autodesk released the free version of AutoCAD which is version 2013. Autodesk has plans to replace the 2013 version with 2017. The updated application is not free of charge and is referred to as 2016. There are still some new features and new user interface which include 3D printing and cloud-based deployment.

I am new to C++. I am developing a software in C++ in Visual studio 2010. I have a class which includes a const map. I need to assign const to this map in class’s constructor.

The const map should be made by const values, not pointers. For example:
class myclass

Note, that you may also simply pass a copy of the pointer (which is a constant pointer and can be const’ed if you use a std::vector, for example).
Also note, that you should use const only where possible, because it may make it impossible to modify the content of the object. For example:
