The Text Reader application was developed to be a small program that was written to allow easy reading of simple documents started in Text or Rich Text (RTF) formats.
You can change the font the Text Reader uses for displaying files. The font can be saved as the reader’s default font, or for the selected file.
The default scroll rate can be set through the Scroll menu. While reading, you can change the scroll rate on the tool bar (changing the rate on the tool bar does not set the default rate).
Text Reader remembers one bookmark per text file. Bookmarks can be set and cleared fromt he menu or tool bar. Select Goto Bookmark to move to a saved bookmark. If no bookmark is saved, this will return you to the beginning of the text.

Text Reader is an Open Source and cross platform reader.
If you print Txt files to PDF, I can read the PDF too, but not it’s contents. So Text Reader is the best for reading PDFs.

With the TextReader application, you can read simple documents started in Text or Rich Text (RTF) formats. You can open any file that has a Text or RTF extension. This includes Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Visio, OpenOffice files, and more.
Files can be previewed in the TextReader window before the program opens them.
You can also copy the text from files, including Microsoft Word and Excel, into the clipboard. If you select a word in a document, you can paste that text into a word processor, e-mail client, web browser, or any app that accepts rich text. You can even paste from the clipboard into a browser and view the HTML source.

You can read a document, table or formatted section by double clicking on it. There is an option to open a list of the words in a formatted section, or highlight a word or a line of text.
You can also select a range of text by clicking and dragging.
You can copy or delete blocks of text. You can toggle the display of line numbers by clicking with the mouse over them. They will appear and disappear automatically.
While reading, you can use the mouse to scroll the text into view. This can be toggled from the tool bar.

The Text Reader supports all of the current OS’ available font formats including Helvetica, Times New Roman, and Courier New. The TxtReader does not support Postscript or Palm fonts. The built-in version of the program was written using Visual FoxPro 5.5.
